jillboard: An Open Letter to Facebook From A Heavy User
Hey guys… it’s me again… I’ve just had a lot on my mind lately and really need to get it off my chest. Hope you can understand and bear with me as I spew the contents of my inner soul to the friendly internet community. Well, here goes I guess..
What ever happened to Facebook notifications?! Facebook notifications are just so meaningless nowadays. I wake up every morning and have like 5 notifications, and I get so excited..but then.. none of them even mean anything to me. Do you know what I’m saying? It’s like, so impersonal. Like more impersonal than Twitter’s World Trending Topics. #ObamaDNC <— Who cares?! Wake up, 5 notifications…No wall posts, no comments… just group post notifications, another few event invites, and an invitation to The Sims Social. Now don’t get me wrong: the Sims were like my only friends growing up, and I feel really secure with my 1000+ friends-stack (still growing), and feel super blessed to be getting so many invitations daily. People like me, which is cool I guess… And I don’t mean to sound pretentious, but this just isn’t how Facebook should be, guys, am I right? It’s just sad to look back on my high school days when every notification was like a golden ticket. Or every Myspace comment was better than your after-school Wonderball. If you look back on the golden age of social media, when having someone message you electronically REALLY MEANT SOMETHING, then share this post. Share this post for you. Share this post for me. Share this post for everyone in all eternity and God and stuff, and also for the future of Facebook. For Barack Obama, who I’m still not positive who that is, and for your friend who just won’t stop sending you event invites to his dive bar shows. The day he turns into Lady Gaga is the day I bet Facebook goes back to normal and - all will finally be right in this world. *Single tear*
Peace on earth you guys.
Sincerely, but not really cause this is just Tumblr and not Facebook,
