I hate this whole “we need more math/science teachers” thing. I go to a big prestigious teaching school. Pretty much every education major there is a science or math major. Obviously, in a few years, these math/science teaching jobs won’t be available anymore. Also, a lot of these students aren’t even passionate about their subject. They’re just going where the jobs are. I’m an English/ed major because I actually love what I’m studying enough to go on and share my knowledge with younger minds. Like, how can you teach something you don’t really care about? This is why our educational system is failing. That and many of these teachers have no experience with special education, but that’s a whole other rant.
^All of this.
