3. 100% Publishing - Wiley
All are amazing in their own right.
100% was really driving and full of positive vibes. I’ve always loved Grime but honestly haven’t listened to any of it in awhile. If you have any appreciation for the UK and a love for hip-hop mixed in with a respect for dance music (drum n’ bass/jungle-ish beats) you gotta check out this album. Some other Grime artists I really like are JME, Lady Sovereign, and Dizzee Rascal. All amazing.
Shenanigans I listened to after have a rough day and boy, did it make everything a whole lot better. Not only did I have a great workout, but in doing so I blew off a lot of steam and let go of a lot of aggression I was feeling. This album has always held a special place in my heart because it was one of GD’s releases that was not as commercially successful while on Reprise. But there are some really catchy nuggets in this one; Great originals (“Suffocate”, “Desensitized”, “Scumbag”, “Ha Ha You’re Dead”) and sweet covers (“Outsider”, “Tired of Waiting For You”). How this album could not get you up and moving is unbeknownst to me.
24 Hour is just classic Jawbreaker. It’s like a sucker punch in the mouth that makes me keep coming back for more. I guess it’s another kind of album that helps you blow of some steam, but sometimes that’s the best music to listen to in order to have a good workout. Full of angst, insecurity, and the realization of broken friendships while still trying to stick to your guns and be yourself. I feel like it’s the story of my life.
Hope you have a good trip to the gym! Weather’s getting warmer and beach season is upon us! Trust me, I know. I spent quite some time sitting in Parkway South traffic yesterday evening.
